What are the objectives of SUC?
SUC was founded with the idea of bringing together students from across Europe (focus on CEE) with students from Austria. During the ten-days program focused on Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship, Sustainable Urban Design and Architecture and on Destination Management and Tourism Infrastructure, highly talented students are given the possibility to work, think and learn together in an international and interdisciplinary environment.
SUC – What is in it for me?
Being coached, challenged and supported by professors from the US and Austria and by international experts applying state-of the art learning methods, you will develop in an inspiring environment. You will experience entrepreneurship real-time through intense contacts with our business partners. You have the possibility to get in contact with potential employers. SUC is set in a charming surrounding, where you can increase your international and interdisciplinary networks.
Do I get ECTS credits?
It is not possible to receive ECTS credits and get the courses accredited at you home universities. Nevertheless, we will provide you with a certificate of attendance signed by both, US and Austrian professors and the president of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce Carinthia.
Does SUC provide full scholarship for the participation?
For all selected applicants of SUC a scholarship is provided by our workshop partners and sponors. It includes: academic program, learning material, side events. Students only have to contribute 150€ for accomodation and meals. Travel costs and private expenses have to be covered by participants. To ensure that very talented students from any social background are able to participate SUC, we additionally offer scholarships covering travel and living expenses (extra application).
Does the SUC team help me with the provision of VISA, if needed?
Yes! If you need a VISA for coming to Austria, the SUC team will help you with all the formalities to get your VISA!
How do I travel to Carinthia/ SUC?
The SUC will take place in Villach, a city of the region of Carinthia, in the south of Austria.

You will get all necessary information from our team. If you are traveling by train, the nearest railway station is the central station of Villach. If you take the plane, there is an airport in Klagenfurt, the capital of Carinthia. From Klagenfurt you can catch a train to Villach.
What roles do the professors play within the SUC program?
The professors from the University of Pittsburgh, the Point Park University, the Vienna University of Technology and the MODUL University Vienna will be present during the whole week. They will not only hold lectures during the first part of the week but they also serve as coaches, supporting you during the workshops. They will constantly instruct, assist and challenge you to make the SUC become an intellectually inspiring and valuable experience for you. Is it possible to join the SUC later or leave earlier?
As we want you to benefit completely from the SUC, only the attendance of the whole program makes sense. Therefore it is not possible to join a day later or leave a day earlier. It is absolutely vital for each delegate to attend the full program.
Is it essential to have a good level of English in order to attend SUC?
Yes, a good level of English is essential as the entire program (presentations, lectures, discussions, workshops and leisure activities) will be conducted in English. Please clearly indicate your proficiency in English in your CV.
What do I have to prepare prior to SUC?
You will receive a reader to go through and familiarize yourself with before the start of the program. It will provide a valuable basis for the entire week. In addition, we would ask you to bring traditional materials (e.g. clothes, food, music, etc.) to the site so you can give an exciting presentation about your country/culture during the “Night of Cultures”. When accepted as a delegate we will precisely inform you about the preparation needed.
Which criteria will be applied during the selection process?
We are looking for genuinely interesting students (2nd part of their studies) and recent graduates who are expecting to broaden their horizon and willing to learn. We will appreciate practical experience as well as language and additional skills. Very important is your letter of motivation. In this letter we would like you to tell us why you are the best participant for the SUC program. (be creative!)
